What is VET?
VET is Vocational education training (VET) within a specific industry. Training is completed at TAFE or a Registered training Organisation (RTO). VET can be added as a subject to student studies while in Year 11 or 12, this is known as VDSS.

Vocational Education and Training Delivered to School Students (VDSS) This program allows secondary students to gain practical skills in a specific industry while contributing toward the completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), VCE Vocational Major (VCE-VM) or Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)
Features of VDSS
- VDSS enables students to gain a national qualification or partial qualification for a specific industry (see Shape your VCE for subjects available) . It enables students to learn specific skills to help them within the workplace or create a pathway for further study.
- Undertaking VDSS while at school allows students to combine general and vocational education. It enables students to explore and experience an industry and develop an understanding of the opportunities for their career before they leave school.
- VDSS programs are typically completed over two years. There are some course opportunities to be completed over one year.
- Students can also study VET through School-Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships (SBATs).
