Farewell to a founding BGKLLEN member – Les Heimann OAM

Farewell to a founding BGKLLEN member – Les Heimann OAM

Yesterday the BGKLLEN celebrated the life of Lesley Heimann OAM. Les was a founding member of  BGKLLEN and joined our Committee of Management in it’s first breath, bringing with him 36 years of accounting experience and a passion for social justice that would be hard to rival.

Les was an exceptional leader who believed wholeheartedly in overcoming disadvantage through collaboration and innovation. He wanted to see every young person gain the knowledge and support to reach their potential and he drove that through BGKLLEN’s COM and staff.

Les Chaired the BGKLLEN for six years, through uncertain funding, changes of Government funding and many new directions. He would always bring us back to the core of why we where here though – to support the young people who needed it most.

We will carry on Les’ legacy through a VCAL award sponsorship in his name for a student that shows the same community mindedness that Les displayed throughout his days.

We send our love to Helen and the rest of his family and thank them for supporting Les to give us so much of his time voluntarily.

He will always be in the spirit of our work.
